2025 Annual Report

The Work of His Hands

    Letter from the Pastor

    Church family,

One of the most exciting things we get to do as a people is celebrate the work of God in our lives, corporately and individually. While the banner over every year of any church is “God is building His church,” I think it is appropriate to dedicate this annual report to the Lord to say: look what He has done; look at the works of his hands.

This has been a year of extraordinary change for the life of our church. Within two years, we’ve gone from being without a home to owning property. We’ve welcomed dozens of new members into covenant fellowship with us. We’ve seen God save people and others follow Christ’s example in baptism. We’ve helped to send missionaries. We’ve welcomed new life.

We’ve also born one another’s sorrows in faith. We’ve carried each other’s needs to the throne of grace. We’ve prayed for healing for the sick among us.

In all this and more, God has shown that he can do abundantly more than we could imagine by the power of His Almighty hand.

Look at what He’s done in 2025.

    Stories: Devin Williamson

Devin, you cut the cake at both our covenanting service and our 2-year anniversary. What goes through your mind when you think about those two moments side by side?

It is amazing to me to see how our church has grown! It’s hard to believe how two years ago, about 50 of us were meeting at the gym at Providence Classical School, and now we have almost filled up First Cumberland with a few hundred people. I think about how so many people have been looking for a healthy church and how Redeemer has become their home. It is encouraging how many like-minded people there are who are looking for the same things in a church.

How have you seen God at work in our congregation since the early days?

From the beginning, the church body has been very hospitable. When I first walked into the gym at PCS, I was unexpectedly greeted by Cindy Yates (who had taught a food safety class at my previous job and talked about Jesus with me :)) and so many other women who were eager to speak with and encourage me…
I began to get to know these women at a bible study at Kari West’s house, where it was refreshing to study the bible together and share our lives with one another. This same loving and caring culture has continued. God is binding us together as a church to be a hospitable people. I would feel very at ease bringing any friend with me to hear the sermons and meet the people, either believer or non-believer.

How has Redeemer shaped you personally over these past two years?

I have been equally encouraged by the sermons, singing together, equipping classes, and the church body. All of these things together have pointed me to Jesus and the scripture. My heart likes to remind me how I have not measured up and have not been faithful, but through this church, I have been continually reminded that God is merciful to me through Jesus.

What gives you hope or excitement as Redeemer enters its next season?

One of the things that I am very thankful for is how Redeemer is transparent about our beliefs (pretty much any question about us can be found on our website!). This type of clarity and unity is exciting as we continue to grow together as a church. I am also excited about the youth group that has formed! The youth girls are such deep thinkers and are seeking to know God. I expected to like being a part of it, but I did not know I would love it this much. It will be exciting to see this group bond more and grow in their relationship with Jesus.

    Children in Redeemer Kids

    Stories: The Stallings

Heather and Taylor, What was it like for you as parents to watch your son be baptized?

It was joyful! We are thankful to see the Lord’s kindness and faithfulness in our family. It has sparked further conversations with our younger boys, especially our 8 year old.

Taylor, I know your parents are also members of Redeemer. How does worshipping across three generations encourage or strengthen your faith?

It is a huge blessing! Our boys have a strong relationship with my parents. Our kids get to see their faith in addition to our faith which bolsters their understanding. My parents are able to come alongside us and encourage us as we raise the boys and help in forming their understanding of the world and the Christian walk.

As you’ve opened your home and led a small group, how have you seen God use that space to shape your family and the people who gather there?

The Lord has allowed us to accelerate and deepen friendships and relationships with others we may not have otherwise had the chance to get to know. The Lord has created opportunities to have many conversations with the boys about the work of hospitality. He has also taught Heather and I the blessing of being able to have others in our home even when it doesn’t always feel convenient or easy.

Daniel, can you share what made you want to be baptized?

Yes, because I believe in God, because he saved me, and I can stand with Him forever.
What was your favorite part of the day you were baptized? I was happy, so I can stand with Jesus forever

Who are some of the people God has used to shape your life and help you follow Jesus?

    My mom and dad…my grandparents.

    From the Elders

Stephen Murphy, 2025 chairman of the board

It’s hard to believe that another year has already passed in the life of our congregation. We are entering our third year and excited to see what the Lord brings – especially at the new 1st Street campus!

But first let’s take a look back at our second year which was full of God’s rich blessing and mercy.

We have expanded our use of 1802 to include three adult Equip classes. Our Third Sunday meals push the capacity of the back of the sanctuary to its limits. Each members’ meeting we are adding almost the same number to our congregation as the core group of believers that started Redeemer in 2023.

We have had 14 babies, 7 baptisms, 10 Bible study and local small groups across the region, our membership is now 151, and we average more than 250 (70 in Redeemer Kids) on Sundays!

One of the consistent themes we hear from people applying for membership is that the teaching is rich with truth, the worship is reverent and pure and that the people of Redeemer welcome visitors with a genuine love.  What an encouragement it is to read some of the membership applications that confirm your adherence to the exhortations of Peter and Paul in their letters to the church. Here are a few unattributed excerpts from the applications this year in:

“We have experienced the expression of Christ’s love through the members of the church. We’ve learned so much about the importance of established biblical doctrine. We want to be a part of this local church.”

“I appreciate the simple worship that helps us focus more on Christ. The people of the church are loving and have such a desire to grow deeper in their relationship with the Lord.”

“Redeemer reminds me of what a church should be as declared by the book of Acts, and the epistles.”

“We have seen fruitful teaching, efforts at solid biblical education, and sweet fellowship and engagement at Redeemer, and it’s refreshing.”

“I wanted a church that prioritized God and His glory more than people’s feelings or trying to “entice” people.”

“The dedication to following Scripture for teaching, preaching and living out the Christian life has been refreshing to our family.”

“The preaching is biblically based and sound. The congregational led worship. The heart for a gospel-centered community and heart for the whole area we are in.”

As elders our goals will never be tied to adding numbers to the congregation. Whoever comes and decides to stay is up to the Lord. Our role is to watch over those placed under our care (1 Peter 5:1-4) and as elders we do that through a focus on whole-life discipleship, sound teaching, and protection from false teaching.

You will see a renewed effort on this in our third year with the addition of regular individual communication with members of the flock, more events for us to fellowship and learn together, more articles and position papers to share with the church on theological challenges the elders want to address, and the addition of new elders and deacons to ensure our faithfulness to these values remains steadfast and sure.

As we seek to renew our efforts in leadership, I want to encourage you also to look inward and challenge yourself anew this year. You loved what you saw in this church when you joined.

What you saw was a result of the Spirit strengthening us in our convictions: clear gospel, Biblical preaching, holy worship, deep discipleship, intentional simplicity, covenant membership, plural leadership, radical hospitality, and thoughtful mission.

Renew a commitment to these convictions with us in our third year. Commit to reading God’s Word and meditating on His truth throughout each day. Pray without ceasing. Deliver the gospel to friends and neighbors. Serve each other. Volunteer for something new in the church. Be fruitful.

For this very reason, make every effort to supplement your faith with virtue, and virtue with knowledge, and knowledge with self-control, and self-control with steadfastness, and steadfastness with godliness, and godliness with brotherly affection, and brotherly affection with love. For if these qualities are yours and are increasing, they keep you from being ineffective or unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. For whoever lacks these qualities is so nearsighted that he is blind, having forgotten that he was cleansed from his former sins. (2 Peter 1:5-9)

There is much labor ahead of us in the coming year – both physical and spiritual. We will change locations and with that will come at a huge logistical effort which will require all of us.

I am excited about the chance for us to be a light in that part of our city – a new embassy for the Kingdom ready to get to work for its King. We rejoice that God has seen fit to put this work in our hands and it is by His strength that we will continue to glorify Him in this city.

I look forward to serving with you all this year!

To our God and Father be glory for ever and ever.
