New to Redeemer?

You may be wondering where to go, what to do with your children, what worship will be like, or whether there is room here for your questions. We want your first Sunday at Redeemer to be clear and without distraction, so you can give your attention to God’s Word, worship with his people, and be encouraged by people around you.

What to Expect on Sunday

When You Arrive

We currently lease First Cumberland Presbyterian Church while we wait on the completion of our Lowe Mill property. Read more about that property here. The campus can take a moment to learn, so here is a simple explanation.

Parking

Guest parking is available near the main entrance. Additional parking is available nearby, including shared parking where marked. Shortly after entering the parking lot, you'll see signage pointing you to the appropriate parking lots.

Main Entrance

For worship, park in "Guest Parking" and enter through the double doors under the overhang. Families checking in children under 5 can follow signs for Redeemer Kids.

Redeemer Kids

If you are checking in children under 5 during the worship hour, follow parking signs for "Redeemer Kids." You'll know you're in the right area when you see the playground! Children over 5 are welcome and encouraged to join us for worship. They can join a Sunday school class right after worship.

Need Help?

Greeters will be available to help you find the worship space, children’s check-in, restrooms, or classrooms. Greeters wear badges to make them identifiable, but honestly, everyone here is very welcoming and can help if you need it.

What Worship is Like

Redeemer’s worship is intentionally simple, reverent, and centered on God’s Word. Each Sunday, we gather to hear Scripture, sing together, pray together, confess the faith, receive the preached Word, and come to the Lord’s Table.

Our service usually lasts about 75 minutes. When you arrive, you’ll receive a printed worship guide with the full order of service, Scripture readings, song lyrics, and other helps so you can follow along without wondering what comes next.

We Sing Together

Our music is rooted in congregational singing. We sing hymns and songs that are rich in Scripture, clear in doctrine, and suited for the whole church to sing together. You do not need to know the songs before you come. The lyrics are printed in the worship guide, and the aim is not performance but the gathered church lifting its voice in praise.

We Pray & Confess Together

Throughout the service, we pray, confess sin, receive assurance from God’s Word, and confess the faith together through historic catechisms and creeds. These parts of the service help us remember that worship is not merely something we watch or feel. It is something we receive from God and offer back to him together as his people.

We Hear God's Word

Each week, Scripture is read aloud and preached. Our preaching is expositional, which means the sermon is shaped by the meaning of the biblical text and aims to explain, apply, and proclaim God’s Word. The sermon is not a religious talk added onto the service. It is central to our worship because God forms, confronts, comforts, and feeds his people through his Word.

We Come to the Lord’s Table

Redeemer celebrates the Lord’s Supper every week. Communion is for baptized believers who are walking with Christ in faith and are in good standing with a local church. If that does not describe you, we ask that you use that time to reflect, pray, and consider the grace God freely offers to all who cast themselves upon Jesus.

For Families

Redeemer Kids

Redeemer Kids exists to help children know God’s Word, learn the gospel, and grow in the life of the church. During worship, children are cared for by trained volunteers in a safe and welcoming environment.

During the worship hour (9:00am), Redeemer Kids hosts worship care for children under the age of five across three different classrooms, infant; toddlers; and older preschool children. There is no worship care for children over the age of five. They are welcome to join us in corporate worship.

Children in Worship

Children are welcome in the worship gathering. We know that children make noise, and we are glad they are present. Parents should feel free to keep children with them or use Redeemer Kids as needed.

Feel free to grab one of our wiggle bags on the way into the sanctuary. Your child will find fidget toys, crayons, a sermon note worksheet, and other trinkets to help him or her pay attention.

Students

Students are part of the life of the church at Redeemer. We want middle and high school students to be formed by worship, Scripture, discipleship, and meaningful relationships with other believers.

So we encourage them to participate with adults on Sunday mornings—serving alongside parents, worshiping in corporate worship, choosing an equip class which interests them. Students have weekly and monthly options throughout the year.

After the Worship Gathering

We lease the building from First Cumberland Presbyterian Church. So, after the worship gathering ends, you'll see our tear-down team begin to break down chairs, clean trash, and vacuum the room before FCPC's worship service at 11 am.

After worship, we make our way downstairs immediately for conversation, coffee, and Bible classes. You are welcome to slip out quietly or stay and meet people. While either is fine, we would love for you to join us for a class.

At 10:30 AM, we offer Bible and theology classes for adults, students, and children. These classes are designed to help the whole church grow in Scripture, doctrine, and the Christian life.

Frequently Asked Questions

What time should I arrive?

Plan to arrive 10–15 minutes early, especially if you are checking in children.

How long is the service?

Our worship gathering usually lasts about 75 minutes.

Do I need to bring anything?

You do not need to bring anything. Many people bring a Bible, but Scripture is read aloud and printed or displayed where needed. If you do not have a Bible, we have a free one you can take home with you.

Will I be singled out?

No. We will not ask you to stand, introduce yourself, or do anything awkward.

Can I take communion?

The Lord’s Supper is for baptized believers who are trusting in Christ and are members in good standing of a gospel-preaching church. If you have questions, we would be glad to talk with you.

How do I learn more about membership?

The best next step is to attend a membership class or meet with a pastor.
